Championship Manager 2 96-97

This was an offical update released by Eidos near the start of the 96/97 season. It brought the bosman ruling into the game and got rid of the foreigner rule. It was released as either an add-on or a new full game. The add-on required CM 95/96. It fixed all the bugs of 95/96 and in my opinion was a great deal better than the previous one. Also in my opinion, it is a hell of a lot faster than CM2 Enhanced and had less bugs than Enhanced. So in some ways it was better than the newest one!

It was available as a new full game and as an update, if you had the old version. It could also be bought for an Italian version as well as the normal English and Scottish version.

It was a harder than 95-96 and the Passing Style and 4-4-2 worked to more effect. But not to the same effect as in CM2 Enhanced. The scorelines were sometimes ridculous. Once, I scored twice in injury time to make it 5-4 to me only for them to equalise in the 95th minute :(. It was Everton, so maybe that's why!
