Championship Manager 1

CM1

Championship Manager 1 Tips and Tactics

1. Play a very attacking formation such as 2-4-4 or 2-3-5 etc. This will create a lot of chances for your team and thus a lot of goals. Play one of the defenders in a sweeper position. For some reason you hardly let in any goals and score lots :)

2. Hold down the space bar during the matches to speed them up.

3. Continental or Passing style are the styles with the highest success rate. (For me any way.

4. Only give win bonuses for big games e.g. Europe, Fa Cup, League Cup, Derbys or against teams that are very high in the league. Too many win bonuses lessens their effect. The following table is the amount I recommend for each type of match.

Competition/RoundAmount to give
Fa Cup
1st-3rd Round£100
4th-Semis£1000
Final£10000
League Cup
1st, 2nd roundnone
3rd-Quarter final£500
Semi Final£1000 each leg
Final£10000
Champions Cup
Every Match£10000
UEFA Cup
1st round-Semis£5000 each leg
Final£10000 each leg
Cup Winners Cup
1st round-Semis£5000 each leg
Final£10000
League
Derbys£1000
Team in high position£1000

5. At the start of each season try to improve your staff. Choose to make the decision by yourself not by the board. When making the search select, "Superb","Unemployed, Third Division". Try to select the RESPONSIBLE ones. If you can't find a superb one (that will sign for you), try "Very Good" and so on.

6. If you are winning your maches regularly, ignore the board's message "We feel your team selection somewhat questionable". You'll always get this if you play 2-4-4.

7. TURN OFF THE VIDIPRINTER! It is stupid and annoying (in my opinion) and the game is so much quicker and better without it.

8. Select players with Influence 20 and character "Responsible" as captains. (Quite obivious, but I know a few people who play those with "Withdrawn" character)

9. For good bargains, look at the players with high-average rating in the third division Average Rating table. High ratings are easy to get in the premier divison(easy compared to CM2 Enhanced and the other divisions) but hard to get in the third (again compared to CM2 Enhanced and the other divisions).

10. The European market usually has the best bargains (such as Nii Lamptey-what happened to him when he really came to England, he was so good in CM1?) and you don't have to negotiate with the team about the asking price. However, beware of buying too many foreigners as this may affect your chances of winning something in Europe.

I hope these tips can help you get success in CM1
